SUMMARY:Pistol Standards
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2.5hr open range session where we will run drills allowing you to practice skills live fire that you normally couldn’t on a public range.  Though this is not a formal class\, coaching will occur where necessary as it pertains to each drill.  Previous formal training is required as this is not meant for first time shooters.  You will need to be comfortable with gun safety\, operation of your gun\, and use of a holster if you plan on drawing the gun from one. \nStudents will need: \n150 rounds of ammo at minimum \n3 magazines \nA safe holster that allows for one handed use \nRange appropriate safety gear including eye and ear protection \nRange/ weather appropriate clothing. \n

SUMMARY:Pepper Spray 101
DESCRIPTION:This 3hr course is an overview of the proper employment of pepper/OC spray.  Having something between a harsh word and a gun is a valuable option.  While pointing OC spray at a potentially Violent Criminal Actor and pressing the button is simple; there are concepts that\, when employed correctly\, can improve our success rate.  Everything will be provided for this course by the instructor.  Each student will receive a POM pepper spray unit with a Retention Ring installed on it.   No live pepper/OC spray allowed in class. \n  \nTopics covered: \nCarry & use of pepper spray \nLegal aspects of use \nBasic management of unknown contacts (MUC) \nVerbal commands

SUMMARY:Intro to Holster Skills
DESCRIPTION:This 3.5 hour intro class is for the student that has little or no training on how to safely draw their firearm from a holster.  We will start in the classroom with an overview of what makes a good holster\, positions on the body\, and an overview of the draw stroke.  We will then move to the live fire range\, where we will go through a “Crawl-Walk-Run” approach to learning the draw stroke\, and get a number of repetitions of a draw to single shot on target.  Class will finish up in the classroom with a recap of the learning objectives and a Q&A session.  Students should expect to leave this Intro to Holster Skills class with the ability to safely draw their pistol from the holster\, fire it\, and return the firearm safely to the holster. \nThis is not a concealment course\, so all holster work will be done with holsters in the open.  Inside the waist band and appendix inside the waist band holsters will be permitted so long as they are of a safe design. \nRequired materials: \n\nHandgun that is operable and safe\n100 rounds of ammunition\nEar and eye protection\nNote Taking material\n\nOptional equipment: \n\nHolster that fits your handgun\n\nHolsters that use the trigger finger to deactivate a retention device such as the Blackhawk SERPA style holsters are not permitted\nSoft sided nylon or leather inside the waist band holsters that cannot remain open on their own are not permitted\nHolsters that do not cover the trigger guard are not permitted\n\n\n\nWith advance notice\, loaner pistols and holsters are available for use during the class. \n

SUMMARY:Intro to Tactical Anatomy
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to defensive shooting\, can you identify the vital areas on the human body from any angle?  Based on the proven “Shooting with X-Ray Vision” curriculum\, Intro to Tactical Anatomy focuses on teaching how to identify the vital areas to hit in a 360 degree environment\, because life isn’t like a shooting range where we will always face the target head on.  This will be a blend of classroom and live fire\, and will also include a special exercise using a Non Lethal Training Ammunition pistol shooting an anatomical 3D target. \nThis is not an introductory course. Students who sign up should be able to make precise hits at distances of 30 feet on a repeatable basis\, be able to demonstrate extremely safe firearms handling skills\, and safely draw from\, and return to the holster. \nRequired equipment: \n\nPistol\nHolster (Serpa style are not permitted)\nEar and Eye Protection\, electronic hearing protection preferred.\n100 rounds of ammunition.\nNote taking material.

DESCRIPTION:Come and work on your grip and trigger work\, 2 of the most important factors in shooting. \nThis clinic will focus on 2 of the most common errors in handgun skills…controlling recoil and working the trigger.  This class is limited to 10 students. You will need 200 rounds of ammunition(minimum\, bring extra if you can); a holster and mag carrier are not required but encouraged. There is no classroom portion for this clinic\, it consists solely of range time.  Eye and ear protection is required as well as appropriate attire for shooting.
